What we do

85% of people connect with Jesus under the age of 25, so our work with young people is vital.

North Staffs Youth for Christ (NSYFC) exists to engage, win, build & mobilise children & young people for Christ and His church in north Staffordshire and beyond by building partnerships with Churches and other organisations in order to develop and facilitate relevant, innovative children’s & youth work that demonstrates, shares, inspires and nurtures Christian faith.

We work with churches, schools, community groups and individuals to spread the good news of the Gospel to children and young people in North Staffs and the surrounding area. We are involved in lunchtime & after-school clubs, assemblies, lessons and weekends away. We run a mentoring project called eavesdrop that provides 1:1 mentors for young people, runs 6-week courses on positive lifestyle choices and trains individuals and churches in how to establish and run their own mentoring projects.

We have recently established a puppet team and media project to explore innovative ways of communicating with children & young people.

We are part of the international network of Youth for Christ but are financially independent and rely on a committed group of individual financial supporters, grants, local churches and other donations.

We believe that the local church in its many forms is vital to the life-long discipleship of children & young people and we are passionate about supporting, resourcing and equipping the church in serving children, young people & their families. We believe that young people need to be integrated from schools into their local church and so want to help local churches in reaching and keeping children & young people. We are committed to working in partnership with local Churches in all our work. We seek to work with local churches in all our schools work, offer training and support to churches and in partnership with Saltbox Christian centre have recently launched ‘Cultivate’ a monthly network meeting for local youth leaders seeking to link churches, share good practise and provide training & support.

We are able to work alongside churches who want to employ a youth worker, supporting the church from initial consideration of a post through recruitment, full support & training to the worker & a joint management structure to ensure excellence in ongoing practice. This is a consultancy based project that works with the individual church to develop an individual package of equipping & support that ‘fills the gaps’ in the expertise & experience of the church.
