Gavin Tams:- Media Team Volunteer
Hello, my name is Gavin and I am from Abbey Hulton where I live at home with my parents and my younger brother who has also joined the YFC team this year. I have an older brother who's just finished a degree in aeronautical engineering and wants to become a pilot and an older sister who has 3 kids, Dean (6 years old), Jessica (4 years old) and Nathan (6 weeks old as of writing this) who I love to bits.
Two years ago I completed the first year of a HND Multimedia Film Production Technology at Staffs uni (Stafford campus) and last year I enrolled on the Foundation Degree course for Youth and Community Work also at staffs uni (Stoke campus). I've been involved in youth work for the past 4 years ranging from a cyber café to a youth forum and because I've only been coming to church for two years I decided to put all of those skills and abilities together and volunteer with the NSYFC media team.
My home church is St. Johns in Abbey Hulton and I went there when I was 4 or 5 and stopped going for some reason unbeknown to me when I was 7. Eleven years later, I returned to do a dance workshop at the holiday club that they ran. A week later I was asked if I wanted to help run the Sunday school there and I been there ever since. I'm a leader of the Fantastic Kidz (the name of the Sunday school), a helper with Girls Brigade and run events such as karaoke and disco and help out with events as much as possible.
In my spare time I love to watch movies at the cinema and I've quite a collection of random films and currently my top 3 films are in no particular order: V for Vendetta, Silent Hill and Saw III. My no. 1 interest in life is WRESTLING!!!!! I watch anything with wrestling in and collect absolutely anything to do with wrestling especially WWE. In addition, I have virtually every single WWE PPV on either tape or DVD. I'm into all kinds of sports ranging from darts to snooker to football and id love to play American football.
I'm really enjoying my time at NSYFC, spreading the word of the Lord to the young people through assemblies and youth groups.
