Hi there. My name’s Pauline Street (yes, as in road) and I am currently the youth and community worker at Market Drayton Methodist Church.
I am originally from Barnsley, South Yorkshire and made the move to Market Drayton and NSYFC in 2004.
I was brought up in a Christian family and went to the Salvation Army from being in a pram. At the age of seven I became a Christian and have never looked back since.
Throughout my teenage years I really felt the call of God on my life and this came to pass when at the age of twenty-one I felt God challenge me to leave my employment as a Bank Clerk and to take a year out at my local church. During this time I worked alongside the Youth Pastor doing schools and youth work, and helped out in the church in whatever capacity I could. This was a massive step for me, but God proved faithful as after the year I was offered a full time position, which developed into me being the full-time schools/ children’s worker and secretary. I have been in full time Youth Work ever since and have seen God’s work ad provision in both the good times and the bad.
Before joining NSYFC, I really felt that God was challenging me to move out of my comfort zone and I applied for new Youth Work roles. I sent my C.V. to North Staffs Youth For Christ and this set off a chain of events that led me to my current position.
It’s not been an easy move, but I am now looking forward to the new challenges God has in store for me. God is opening doors in the local schools and we are hoping to set up lunchtime clubs, Christian Unions and after-school clubs. As a church we excited about our new outreach Youth Group, ”Fusion” which started at Easter this year.
I believe that God is able to do awesome things within the local community and through the staff at North Staffs Youth For Christ. It’s great to be a part of a team of people who are passionate about knowing Jesus and making him known and it’s a privilege to be able to help young people see that in God, there is a hope and a future.
