Face Up

“Face Up” is the title given to a series of group mentoring courses, designed to help young people through personal issues they struggle with. Issues looked at in Face Up include; Self-Harm, Self-Control (anger management), and Self-Respect (sexual morality). “Face Up” was brought into being as a direct response to requests from local high schools for group mentoring. Face Up is in the process of being written and produced, selected courses will begin to be piloted from Easter 2005.

“FACE UP” encourages young people to…

1. CONFRONT THE ISSUE,

2. UNDERSTAND THE EFFECT IT HAS ON THEMSELVES & THE HEALTH OF THOSE AROUN THEM,

3. MOVE ON IN THE DIRECTION OF HOPE, LIVING A MORE POSITIVE, WISE & WHOLESOME LIFE.



The Courses:

  • Self-Harm *
  • Self-Image
  • (confidence)

  • Self-Control (anger management)
  • Self-Respect (promiscuity) specialised for 14 + girls only?

  • Self-Less (multi-ethnic community living)

  • Self-Aware (Stress Management)
  • Peer to Peer listening skills (will be renamed)

  • ** - As well as the more personal issues, eavesdrop also facilitates a small group course which trains young people in listening skills. This course equips young people them to deliver a Peer-Listening system in their own school community, thus empowering young people to support other teenagers who are facing difficulties.

    *Already written & ready for use from Easter 2005
    ** In the process of being piloted and will be ready for completed version in September 2005
